Dear Mr Cameron,
I see that you have had to accept your pay rise which was forced on you against your wishes and you do not feel able to formally challenge the pay watchdog. If there are to be any cuts to public services may I volunteer government? Or, if you want to privatise public services, privatise MPs, get the people who benefit from your government to pay for government, pay, restaurants, transport, expenses, second homes, refurbishment of the houses of parliament and so on, and not just reward you through lobbying and donations.
It seems to me you have a missed opportunity here in your madcap privatisations.
If you did privatise government that would open up a whole range of choice in the services you receive in pay and conditions. It’s the obvious choice for hard working MPs who want to get on.
I understand that you are as helpless in the tide of a pay rise thrust upon you against your will as we are in the tsunami of cuts and sanctions against us. We’re all in this together after all. None of us are masters of our own destiny any more, even government is suffering from excessive bureaucracy and red tape over which you have no choice and no decision.
Who can know what agonies you suffered having stood so firmly against a pay rise to find you are powerless to fight it? It’s a terrible shock to the system, no one likes that feeling. You have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and find the strength to carry on. I feel your pain.
It is to be hoped that support services are available for any MPs who feel undermined and powerless to do their jobs effectively in attacking ordinary people and making our lives a misery. Watch out for mood changes and suicidal thoughts, help is always available by calling Samaritans – 08457 90 90 90. If you are struggling, think on this, your pay rise is more than many of us have to live on a year and we’d welcome it, so it can’t be all doom and gloom.
If you feel overwhelmed in having to deal with a pay rise in these harsh times perhaps you might consider donating it to your local food bank which is located at – 98b Hailey Road, Witney, Oxfordshire, OX28 1HQ. It was founded by Joanne Cypher who can be contacted on 07557 979384, I am sure she will be happy to talk to you and help you unburden your conscience, if you have one.
