A letter a day to number 10. No 1,263
Sunday 22 November 2015.
Dear Mr Cameron,
Britain is a rudderless ship. We have a government that’s socially and economically illiterate apart from the bottom line, the dismantling of Britain for profit. In the 2015/16 period George Osborne wants to sell off more public assets in 12 months than have been sold off in the last two decades raising a one off £31.8 billion, never to be seen again. Didn’t your mother ever tell you that if you sell off the family silver, ‘Once it’s gone, it’s gone’? Clearly not. Why would she ever have needed to?
In the same month, this month, that the Department of Health lifted restrictions for recruiting nurses from overseas as nurses are added to your governments Shortage Occupation List, Osborne is apparently considering axing student nurse bursaries.
The UN has just passed Resolution 2249 backing ‘all necessary measures’ against Islamic State, so it looks like you’ll get your bloody war, the arms trade will have a bonanza, and the world will get more terrorists and more refugees.
I guess it can all be summed up this week by your having complained twice in your own county of Oxfordshire against cuts to front line services. That’s the measure of how utterly divorced from reality you are.
As the country looks to Osborne’s Autumn Statement to find out whether their worst fears will be realised and whether ordinary people will be able to eat, heat, or even have a roof over their heads, you are set to jet the skies for a mere £10 million raid on the public purse.
And let’s not forget Jeremy Hunt (edited) getting ‘deeply muscular’ with junior doctors and being rewarded with a 98% vote for strike action, the first time in the history of the NHS. This cannot possibly dismissed as some grass roots militancy, this is a mobilisation of a professional class who have, quite rightly (as was the case with the vast majority of grass roots militancy), had enough.
There’s no getting away from it, you and your government are an abomination. A limousine chauffeur driven national disaster by plundering rich boys with not a clue as to what real life is all about, living in a cushioned comfort zone, imposing mindless destruction on the lives and well being of ordinary people and the national treasures of the nation and threatening our national security to boot.
