16_december_2015A letter a day to number 10. No 1,287

Wednesday 16 December 2015.

Dear Mr Cameron,

Sometimes I definitely think there’s been a glitch in the Matrix, today was one of those days.

It seems Andy Coulson has called on you to make the National Citizen Service (NCS) scheme compulsory in the hopes of helping the nations young people become model citizens and avoid becoming radicalised extremist terrorists.

Apparently Coulson warned you that ‘some Muslim inmates operate “protection rackets” inside British jails – forcing vulnerable young men to grow beards, change their names and attend prayers in return for safety’.

Reality check – Coulson is an ex-criminal who served time for conspiracy to hack phones during his time at the disgraced and thankfully shut down ‘News of the World’. An ex-hack at the news of the screws and ex-criminal coming up with an anecdotal claim about Muslims in gaol and recommending compulsory attendance of the NCS for young people and the Telegraph gives him column space? Not only that, but Kate McCann, Senior Political Correspondent of the Telegraph, gave him even more column time discussing his witterings as if this is any kind of news story other than on some other planet in a different dimension.

If anyone should be taking courses in national citizenship it is Coulson, your entire government and cabinet in particular, along with bankers and the corporate carpet baggers who treat Britain as a cash cow to feed their insatiable greed.

There is an anecdotal story that appeared on Twitter regarding John McDonnell apparently saying at a rally in Islington: “I got a phone call: saying ‘I’m a journalist from the Sun.’ I said look you can be one or the other, but you can’t be both”.

I am happy to accept that John McDonnell might actually have said that as it happens to be entirely accurate and therefore credible but when it comes to being credible neither you nor Coulson qualify without a serious glitch in the Matri… ddddzzzzzzt. Nope, not even then.
